i have had a set of heads on order at speedway since 9/24/2016 and now am told that not only has the price gone up , now “possible ETA is 8/1/2017. Really???
I would love to run these on my 53 Customline but I am getting impatient with the wait.
What is going on ? If you are going to no longer supply these please say so and I will buy a set of Edelbrock heads (my second choice).
Lets start off by saying that we are deeply sorry that it is taking a long time to get your heads. Unlike Edlebrock we continue to manufacture our heads the old fashion way, the way they have always been made, by hand, in our machine shop in Los Angeles. We are not stopping production on these heads and do not intend to dis-continue them ever. The reason for the back-order is complex and a new management team is working to speed up production as much as possible without wandering from our core value of hand-made in US. The back-order although shrinking slowly is a function of the popularity of these heads and the restrictions on how fast our hundred year old machine can make them. We assure you we fill the orders as they are received across all our wholesale suppliers so particular supplier is favored. We have dramatically increased our flat-head cylinder head and flat-head intake production this year and continue to work to get these parts out as fast as possible. As far as the price increase we had not increased our prices for 9 years so it was imperative that we raise prices to stay in business and not continue operating at a loss! We realize that our competition has long ago implemented highly efficient manufacturing and often overseas labor to keep prices low and keep profits growing. Here at Offenhauser we went a different direction, we kept our factory and the machine mills and our employees and kept the same quality that made us famous… So I guess I’m saying those heads are worth price and the wait.
