Trying to get the torque values for the carburetor base plate to aluminum intake manifold, using studs, not bolts, if that matters…
For the Offenhauser 1075 aluminum intake manifold, the correct torque for the carburetor base plate fasteners (assuming 1/4″-20 studs or bolts) is 7 foot-pounds. If your hardware is a lower grade, 5 foot-pounds is recommended. This is for fasteners threaded into aluminum and applies whether you’re using studs or bolts. It’s also advised to use anti-seize compound on the threads.
For intake manifold mounting bolts (to the engine block), the recommended value is 25 foot-pounds, but for the carburetor-to-manifold fasteners, stick with 7 foot-pounds for 1/4″-20 hardware.
Please ensure to tighten in steps in a cross-pattern and re-check torque after the engine has heat-cycled.
